At Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) recently arrested two businessmen and a Canada-based nurse involved in drug trafficking. The arrests occurred between October 4th and 17th, 2024.
One of the businessmen, Ihejirika Okechukwu Emmanuel, was caught trying to board a flight to Thailand with 400 grams of cocaine that he had ingested. The second businessman, Iwuagwu Ikedi Victory, arrived from Brazil, also having ingested drugs, and expelled a cocaine pellet after ingesting 30 wraps of the drug. Both were caught with the intent to smuggle cocaine.
The Canadian-based nurse, Usman Grace Khadijat Olami, was arrested after arriving from Toronto with 35.7 kilograms of “Loud,” a potent strain of cannabis, hidden in her luggage. She claimed that she was instructed by her boyfriend to bring the drugs into Nigeria.
This operation is part of NDLEA’s larger crackdown on drug trafficking across the country.
