To ensure financial accountability and protect vulnerable groups, Kebbi State has inaugurated a recovery committee tasked with retrieving stolen funds intended for orphans. This decision follows concerns over the mismanagement of funds earmarked to support the education, health, and general well-being of orphans in the state. The committee’s primary goal is to ensure that these resources are used as intended—to uplift the lives of the orphans.
The inauguration of the committee coincides with ongoing efforts by both local and international organizations to assist Kebbi’s vulnerable population. The Muslim World League, a Saudi-based NGO, has been at the forefront of such initiatives, donating N2.1 billion to support over 1,800 orphans in the state. These funds are intended for the orphans’ education, moral upbringing, and clothing, creating an enabling environment for their development into responsible citizens.
