In recent changes to the leadership of Nigeria’s key intelligence services, Rasheed Lawal has been appointed as the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to President Bola Tinubu. This follows a series of reshuffles in the nation’s security architecture as the president aims to bolster the fight against insecurity.
Lawal brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served in various capacities both locally and internationally. His appointment is expected to align with the administration’s broader security strategy, which focuses on collaboration between agencies to address Nigeria’s critical challenges, including terrorism and banditry.
This appointment comes at a time when President Tinubu is pushing for greater efficiency within the country’s intelligence and security sectors. Alongside this, the president also appointed new leaders for Nigeria’s Department of State Services (DSS) and the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), marking a significant shift in the country’s approach to security.
