The Enugu State Government has reiterated its intention to take strict action against schools and businesses that continue to observe the sit-at-home order enforced by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). The government has consistently stated that the sit-at-home order, which was originally implemented by IPOB to demand the release of its leader Nnamdi Kanu, is detrimental to the state’s economy and disrupts daily life.
Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu has made it clear that his administration will impose sanctions on institutions and enterprises that fail to operate on the designated sit-at-home days, which typically occur on Mondays. The government insists that the order is illegal and should not be adhered to, as it hampers educational activities, business operations, and the overall productivity of the state.
This position is part of the state’s broader efforts to restore normalcy and encourage economic recovery, urging residents and business owners to defy the IPOB directive. The government’s stance is aimed at reassuring the public that adequate security measures are in place to protect those who go about their lawful activities.
