In a shocking incident in Antioch, Tennessee, 34-year-old Alyssa Lokits was fatally shot while jogging on the Old Hickory Trail. Eyewitnesses reported hearing her scream, “Help! He’s trying to rape me,” moments before gunfire erupted.
The suspect, 29-year-old Paul Park, allegedly emerged from between parked cars and followed Lokits before the attack.
Although the shooting itself was not recorded, surveillance footage from nearby parks showed Park returning to his vehicle with blood on his clothes.
Dashcam footage from a civilian also played a crucial role in identifying Park, who was apprehended less than 24 hours after the crime, thanks to police connections with his identical twin brother from a past investigation.
Lokits, who held a PhD in neuroscience and was working in IT, was described as a relatively new member of the community.
