The Federal Executive Council (FEC) of Nigeria has authorized the procurement of six M-346 fighter aircraft from Italy’s Leonardo company, totaling over €443.3 million and $141 million for aircraft and ammunition. This purchase is part of Nigeria’s broader plan to acquire a total of 24 M-346 jets to modernize the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fleet. The first batch of six aircraft is expected to be delivered by the end of 2024, with subsequent deliveries to follow. These aircraft are equipped for advanced combat roles, including ground attack and air policing, and come with a long-term maintenance agreement.
