The Enugu State Government has approved a new minimum wage and is working on implementing it through a newly formed committee. Governor Peter Mbah recently inaugurated this committee, which has been tasked with submitting a report on the wage structure within one month.
The committee is expected to ensure that both state and local government workers receive the new minimum wage as soon as possible. This follows the federal government’s move to increase the minimum wage across the country.
While some states have begun implementing a N70,000 minimum wage, Enugu is expected to finalize and begin its own increase soon.
