Dr. Moses Paul recently condemned the alleged assault involving Alex Ikwechegh, a member of the Nigerian House of Representatives, and a Bolt driver. He expressed his disgust through his X formerly Twitter account, he said,
I condemn the reported incident involving Rep. Alex Ikwechegh and his mistreatment of a driver. Holding public office is a profound responsibility, requiring respect, humility, and compassion toward all citizens, especially the vulnerable.
Mr. @PeterObi often emphasizes that a leader’s duty is to care for the poor and underprivileged. In fact, it was Mr. Peter Obi who first showed me this report, remarking that the young man involved could very well be a graduate striving to make an honest living in today’s challenging Nigeria. He was visibly upset by the account, even expressing a wish to personally apologize to the young man on behalf of leaders. He hopes the legislator will reflect on this and act more honorably in the future. Such actions, Mr. @PeterObi believes, betray the public trust and erode the sacred relationship between leaders and the people they serve. Leaders are ultimately servants of the people, and must never use their authority to demean or disrespect those they represent.
