Amid recent speculation around Filip Jørgensen potentially becoming Chelsea’s new first-choice goalkeeper, Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca has set the record straight. Maresca confirmed that Robert Sanchez remains the club’s No. 1, highlighting Sanchez’s established role within the team.
“No. At the moment, the No. 1 is Robert Sanchez,” Maresca stated, making it clear that there are no immediate plans to change the pecking order. “At the moment, there is no doubt Robert is the No. 1,” he reiterated, reinforcing Sanchez’s secure position.
However, Maresca did commend Jørgensen’s performances in cup competitions, noting, “Filip is doing fantastic in the Carabao Cup, the Conference League.” While Jørgensen’s strong displays have garnered attention, it seems his role will continue in the cup competitions for now, as Sanchez retains his place as Chelsea’s first-choice goalkeeper.
