Porto president André Villas-Boas has revealed that the club’s deal to sign Nigerian forward Samu Omorodion was handled in utmost secrecy to ensure its swift completion.
“Omorodion deal was top secret for us,” Villas-Boas explained. “It was the only way to get it done, avoid leaks, and get it done quickly.”
Porto secured Omorodion for €15 million, acquiring 50% of the player’s rights, a move that Villas-Boas believes was crucial in keeping the transfer under wraps. “If the other clubs knew about that, for sure it was gonna be a complicated one,” he added, indicating that public knowledge of the deal could have led to heightened competition for the promising young talent.
Omorodion’s move to Porto is now official, and the club will be looking to maximize his potential in their forward line, following a strategic and discreet negotiation process.
