A small aircraft crashed into a furniture manufacturing warehouse in Fullerton, California, on January 2, 2025, leading to two deaths and 19 injuries.
The incident occurred shortly after the single-engine Van’s RV-10 aircraft took off from Fullerton Municipal Airport. Witnesses reported that the plane appeared to be tilted on its side before it collided with the building, causing an explosion and a significant fire.
Emergency responders evacuated over 100 workers from the warehouse, which housed approximately 200 employees at the time of the crash. Of the injured, 10 individuals were transported to local hospitals, while eight others received treatment at the scene.
The identities of the deceased have not been publicly disclosed. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the fatalities were occupants of the aircraft or individuals inside the warehouse.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash. Preliminary reports indicate that the pilot had requested to return to the airport shortly after takeoff but did not specify the nature of the emergency.
This incident follows a previous crash near Fullerton Municipal Airport in November 2024, where a small plane collided with a tree during an emergency landing. That event resulted in minor injuries to the occupants.
As investigations continue, local authorities have urged residents to avoid the area and allow emergency services to conduct their operations without hindrance. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
