In continuation of his nationwide visits and contributions to critical development sectors, Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra State, visited a vital healthcare facility under the IHM Health System in Mmiata, Anambra East Local Government Area. The facility, managed by the Immaculate Heart Sisters, provides essential services to people in this remote rural community.
During his visit, Obi highlighted his long-standing commitment to health, education, and poverty alleviation as pivotal areas for national growth. He announced a donation of N25 million in collaboration with Professor Ozuah, a kind-hearted Nigerian who had previously joined Obi in donating N75 million to the Immaculate Heart Sisters’ Specialist Hospital in Nkpor.
The healthcare facility in Mmiata, which Obi originally handed over to the Sisters during his tenure as Governor, has since been significantly expanded to serve as the only hospital catering to the area. Recognizing its importance, Obi lauded the dedication of the facility’s management and staff, whose tireless efforts have improved healthcare delivery to underserved communities.
“Investing in critical areas such as health, education, and poverty alleviation through support for small businesses and humanitarian gestures remains the most effective path to national growth and development,” Obi stated. He reaffirmed his commitment to extending similar support to key institutions across Nigeria.
Expressing gratitude to the Sisters and the hospital team, Obi emphasized the importance of strengthening society through targeted investments. “A New Nigeria is possible if we work towards it,” he concluded.
