The Nigerian Presidency has responded to concerns and criticisms surrounding President Bola Tinubu’s recent travel from the UK to France while on a two-week leave. According to Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, the president has the freedom to travel anywhere during his personal time. Onanuga emphasized that Tinubu is still on his planned leave, initially announced as a working vacation in the UK, but is not restricted to any particular location during this period.
Tinubu’s trip to France sparked public interest, with some critics questioning the appropriateness of his travels amid pressing national issues such as economic hardship and insecurity. In defense, the presidency stressed that Tinubu remains in contact with key government officials and is fully aware of developments in Nigeria despite his leave.
