The NBA has fined Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards $35,000 for throwing a ball into the stands and failing to leave the court in a timely manner following his ejection from Thursday night’s game.
The incident occurred during the Timberwolves’ matchup, where Edwards was assessed two technical fouls and ejected in the second half. Frustrated by the call, he hurled the ball into the crowd before lingering on the court, prompting officials to intervene.
In a statement, NBA Executive Vice President Joe Dumars cited Edwards’ actions as “unsportsmanlike conduct that posed a risk to spectators and disrupted the game.”
Edwards has not publicly commented on the fine, but his coach, Chris Finch, acknowledged the situation, stating, “Emotions run high in competitive games, and we’ll work with Anthony to ensure better composure in the future.”
The fine marks another instance of the NBA enforcing its strict policies on player conduct, particularly regarding interactions with fans and game officials.
