The Igbo United Professionals (IUP) has called on Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to substantiate her recent allegations of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio with concrete evidence.
In a statement released on Sunday, the group expressed concern over the gravity of the accusation, emphasizing the need for proof to ensure fairness and accountability. “Sexual harassment is a serious issue, but allegations must be backed by verifiable evidence to avoid the risk of character assassination and political vendettas,” the statement read.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan had alleged that Akpabio engaged in inappropriate conduct, a claim that has since sparked controversy within political circles. While some have voiced support for her, calling for an independent investigation, others—including IUP—have urged her to provide concrete proof to substantiate her claims.
As of press time, Senate President Akpabio has not issued an official response to the allegation. Meanwhile, advocacy groups and legal experts are calling for a fair and transparent process to address the matter.
