A key figure in the Obidient movement, known as “ObidientGeneral,” has reaffirmed that the Labour Party (LP) remains the party of the people, dismissing any claims of individual or group ownership.
In a brief but pointed meeting with Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Chairman Joe Ajaero at the airport, the leader emphasized that the Labour Party belongs to all Nigerians, particularly workers and citizens committed to justice, equity, and true democracy.
“The Labour Party is and will always remain the people’s party. It is not the personal property of any individual or group,” the statement read.
The declaration comes amid growing concerns about alleged attempts to hijack the party’s leadership. However, the Obidient movement insists that the fight for a better Nigeria is driven by the collective will of the people and not by a privileged few.
“The people will have their say, their way, and reclaim their nation through the unstoppable force of the Obidient movement,” ObidientGeneral added, vowing that no amount of manipulation would derail the party’s mission.
The development underscores ongoing tensions within the Labour Party as various factions vie for control ahead of future elections.
