In a show of continued commitment to educational development, Mr. Peter Obi, has donated ₦20 million to the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Calabar (UNICAL).
The donation, made during his visit to the institution on Saturday, is aimed at improving learning infrastructure and supporting academic excellence within the faculty.
Speaking during the visit, Obi emphasized the need for strategic investments in education, particularly in areas like dentistry and medicine that directly impact public health.
> “Education remains the most powerful weapon to fight poverty and develop our nation. I am here not just to give money but to support the future of Nigeria through the students and institutions that mold them,” Obi said.
University authorities, faculty members, and students welcomed the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Florence Obi, commended the former governor for his generosity and unwavering support for educational growth in Nigeria.
The visit is part of Obi’s broader campaign to promote functional education and human capital development, especially in underserved sectors across the country.
