The Nigerian High Court has given social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) 21 days to take down videos and comments considered defamatory toward Nigerian rapper Falz and his father, human rights lawyer Femi Falana. This follows VDM’s accusations that Falana and Falz were involved in bribing officials to secure a presidential pardon for controversial figure Bobrisky in exchange for ₦10 million.
VDM’s statements implied that Falz and his father helped Bobrisky evade justice, which both Falz and Falana have denied. Falana described the claims as baseless and harmful to their reputations. Falz’s sister, Folakemi, publicly defended her family, noting their long history of providing free legal assistance, including securing pardons for Nigerians, and she strongly criticized those who believed VDM’s allegations.
Despite the legal warnings, VDM has not retracted his statements, insisting that his goal was to expose corruption, not defame anyone.
