In a recent address, Professor Pat Utomi urged Nigerians to reclaim their country from a political class he described as having lost its way. He emphasized that political parties alone cannot save the nation. Instead, he called on citizens to rise and demand accountability, highlighting that Nigeria’s political system has been compromised by self-serving leaders who have strayed from their true mission—to improve the lives of future generations.
Utomi criticized the current political culture, where leaders focus more on personal gains than on fostering national development, and he stressed the need for a movement rooted in values and human solidarity.
He also pointed to the weakening of key institutions, such as the judiciary and electoral systems, which are critical for sustainable progress. Utomi believes that rebuilding these institutions and cultivating leadership based on character and competence are essential for Nigeria to achieve its potential. He urged young Nigerians to reject corrupt leaders and elect individuals who can genuinely lead the country toward progress.
