Recently, a young man known as “Flag Boy” embarked on a solo protest in Abuja, chanting “Hunger dey!” to highlight the severe economic hardship and hunger affecting many Nigerians.
This protest, held in Wuse 2, Abuja, was reportedly inspired by growing public dissatisfaction with Nigeria’s economic situation, leading many to prepare for larger protests like the “EndBadGovernanceInNigeria” movement planned for early August 2024. During his protest, Flag Boy called on Nigerian leaders to address the urgent issue of food insecurity and economic instability.
This protest has gained significant attention online, with many Nigerians expressing support for Flag Boy’s courage in speaking out about economic challenges affecting the country, though it also stirred debates around the role of peaceful protests in highlighting public hardship.
