Nollywood actor Kanayo O. Kanayo recently raised concerns about the disproportionately high number of security checkpoints in Nigeria’s South-East region compared to other parts of the country, particularly the South-West.
He suggested that this situation, combined with ongoing insecurity, is placing a heavy burden on the people in the South-East. Kanayo has previously expressed frustrations about the region’s instability and emphasized that these checkpoints disrupt everyday life and contribute to a sense of siege among residents.
In light of these issues, Kanayo has advocated for peace and has used his platform to call attention to the broader challenges facing the South-East, including economic disruptions and the negative impact of policies such as the sit-at-home protests linked to the detention of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu.
