Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, a popular Nigerian social media influencer, was recently granted N2 million bail by an Abuja Federal High Court after being arraigned on charges of cyberstalking. The charges include several accusations, such as allegedly spreading false information online intended to defame or harass public figures. VeryDarkMan’s content has previously criticized government officials and public figures, but recent accusations suggest that he knowingly posted inflammatory claims regarding celebrities, politicians, and high-ranking officials, which were deemed to have malicious intent.
The court initially remanded him in police custody, deferring the decision to May 29, 2024, after his lawyer requested additional time to respond. However, the judge approved bail under specific conditions, including financial security and restrictions on further actions related to the alleged offenses.
