Two-time heavyweight boxing champion and renowned entrepreneur George Foreman has passed away at the age of 76. The legendary boxer, known for his powerful punches and historic comeback, died on March 21, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Born on January 10, 1949, in Marshall, Texas, Foreman first gained global recognition after winning a gold medal at the 1968 Olympics. He later turned professional and became the world heavyweight champion in 1973 after defeating Joe Frazier. However, he lost the title a year later to Muhammad Ali in the iconic Rumble in the Jungle fight in Zaire.
Following a decade-long hiatus, Foreman made a stunning comeback to boxing, reclaiming the heavyweight title in 1994 at the age of 45, making him the oldest heavyweight champion in history.
Beyond boxing, Foreman became a highly successful entrepreneur, best known for the George Foreman Grill, which has sold over 100 million units worldwide. He was also a devout preacher and philanthropist, dedicating much of his later years to his ministry.
His family described him as “a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather”, while tributes from the boxing world have poured in. Mike Tyson honored Foreman as “a man of God” whose contributions to the sport and society “will never be forgotten.”
Foreman leaves behind an enduring legacy in both boxing and business, remembered as one of the greatest heavyweight champions of all time
