LAGOS — A startling discovery has rocked the Labour Party’s Lagos State Secretariat following a peaceful takeover by stakeholders on Saturday, as reports confirm the alleged presence of local charms in the office of the embattled state chairperson, Pastor Dayo Ekong.
During the post-takeover inspection of the premises, stakeholders say they found multiple calabashes wrapped in red cloths, some with white papers bearing names and attached feathers — objects typically associated with ritualistic practices.
The shocking discovery has triggered outrage among party members, who described the items as “deeply disturbing” and unbecoming of a party leader, particularly one who identifies as a pastor.
“This is not just about politics anymore. We are talking about attempts to manipulate the will of party members through questionable means. It’s disgraceful,” one party official who witnessed the discovery stated.
The stakeholders called on security agencies to investigate the matter thoroughly, warning that the Labour Party must not become a haven for undemocratic practices or spiritual intimidation.
They reiterated their commitment to transparency, unity, and repositioning the party ahead of the 2027 general elections, in line with the recent Supreme Court ruling which sacked Julius Abure’s leadership and affirmed the authority of the newly formed caretaker committee.
