Chelsea’s rising star Cole Palmer has opened up about the unexpected turn of events that led to his transfer from Manchester City, admitting that joining Chelsea was not initially in his plans. Speaking to GQ, Palmer shared how he was “persuaded” to make the move after learning the two clubs were negotiating a transfer fee.
“I wasn’t even gonna go to Chelsea. I got persuaded,” Palmer said, describing the whirlwind process. Reflecting on the moment he learned of the possible transfer, he recalled, “I remember training on a Wednesday at City in the afternoon, and the news was… they’re trying to agree a fee.”
Throughout that training session, Palmer found himself eagerly seeking updates, asking the kit man every time the ball went out if the fee had been settled.
