Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals has announced that it will absorb a N16 billion loss by refunding N65 per litre to fuel marketers, a move aimed at ensuring Nigerians benefit from lower fuel prices.
The company’s decision comes amid concerns over rising fuel costs and inflationary pressures on consumers. By offering this subsidy to marketers, Dangote Refinery aims to make its fuel more affordable at the pump, easing the financial burden on Nigerians.
Industry analysts have noted that this gesture underscores Dangote Refinery’s commitment to stabilizing the local fuel market, especially as Nigeria seeks to reduce dependence on imported petroleum products.
While the long-term sustainability of this price adjustment remains uncertain, the initiative is expected to provide short-term relief to consumers and further position Dangote Refinery as a key player in Nigeria’s energy sector.
