Reading numerous criticisms of Mr. Peter Obi’s efforts to enhance critical areas of development, such as health, education & poverty alleviation across Nigeria & beyond, it’s clear that some critics trivialize his contributions. Their arguments often rest on tribal, regional & religious sentiments, questioning why he does not visit certain areas. The account shared here may not align with PO’s typical modesty, and he might not even endorse it. During a conversation about the negative remarks directed at him, he simply said, “Mo, don’t waste your time refuting it; just remember that our purpose is to serve humanity & don’t concern yourself with what people say.” He added, “Why expend energy on people who will never see any good in you? Not everyone needs to like you. Among every 12, there will always be a Judas.”
Those close to Mr Obi, can affirm that he visits places managed by trusted voluntary agencies to support their efforts in critical areas, such as healthcare, education & agriculture. His visits are typically preceded by a thorough study of the development needs in these sectors. By doing so, he aims 2 empower volunteer organizations, ensuring they have the necessary resources to make a meaningful impact.
As for those who criticize him—individuals who have neither made meaningful contributions to humanity nor positively impacted any community—I question what they hope to achieve by attempting to discredit him. He is a man who consistently addresses issues that both the government & others have neglected, stepping in where no one else does.
Mr. Peter Obi’s philanthropic work spans before, during, and over a decade after his time as governor, consistently benefiting communities nationwide and beyond. His long-term commitment to giving back is undeniable.
Amid ongoing efforts to silence, discredit, and undermine him without valid justification, PO continues to stay true to his principles. His commitment to visiting schools, farms, hospitals, and health centers across the country remains stable. He has consistently channeled his personal, hard-earned resources towards realizing a vision of Nigeria that serves all its citizens. Yet, instead of acknowledging his contributions, some critics choose to tribalize & belittle his efforts.
Let me give an example of two recent critiques that serve no purpose other than to trivialize & tribalize: one person issued a challenge, offering a reward of 10 million Naira to anyone who could name a school in the South West region that Mr. Peter Obi has supported. Another questioned if Mr. Peter Obi could send his own children to the universities he is building.
Instead of using that 10 million to support his own community, he chose to throw out a challenge, while PO is busy demonstrating his love for humanity. Let Reno pay me that 10 million, I would use it to benefit my community, as I am ready to take up that challenge. I know for a fact that Mr Peter Obi has indeed supported schools in the South West. Let me give an example: since the challenge requires just one, it might surprise some to learn that for several years, Mr. @PeterObi has been the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Board of Dominican University in Ibadan. He has invested more than 100 million Naira into the institution over the years and continues to do so to this day.
Mr. @PeterObi has two children who graduated from university several years ago. Remarkably, they are independent and forging their own paths in the world. What difference does it make if Peter Obi is investing in building universities for other people’s children to attend, especially now that he has no access to public funds? Isn’t that the essence of a healthy society? Those who criticize him should channel their own resources to uplift their communities & those around them.
Mr. @PeterObi embodies the leadership our country needs, focusing on meaningful progress, unity & concrete achievements rather than division & empty rhetoric.
