Eight days after being pardoned by Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, Sunday Omisakin, a former convict, has been rearrested for allegedly breaking into a house to steal a television. Omisakin, who had been serving time at the Ilesa Correctional Centre, was released under the governor’s clemency program before his alleged return to crime. Following his apprehension, he has been remanded in custody, reigniting debates about the effectiveness of pardon programs for reintegration of ex-convicts into society.
