Human rights lawyer Femi Falana has called on President Bola Tinubu’s administration to enforce a court ruling ordering the removal of Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, as the leader of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW). The legal directive also mandated the reinstatement of Tajudeen Baruwa as the rightful president of the union.
Falana emphasized that the continued leadership of MC Oluomo defies the Nigerian court’s decision, undermining the rule of law. He criticized the government’s inaction in resolving the leadership dispute, which has led to tension within the transport sector. According to Falana, respecting the court order would reinforce public confidence in the judiciary and democratic governance.
The leadership crisis in the NURTW has been a contentious issue, with factions vying for control over the influential union. Falana warned that the government’s failure to act could escalate conflicts and disrupt transport services across the country. He urged Tinubu’s administration to prioritize the resolution of this matter in the interest of national stability.
