The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared Wednesday, December 25, and Thursday, December 26, 2024, as public holidays to mark Christmas and Boxing Day celebrations. Additionally, Wednesday, January 1, 2025, has been set aside as a holiday for New Year’s Day celebrations.
This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government. He extended warm greetings to Nigerians and encouraged them to use the festive period for reflection on the values of love, peace, and unity that the season represents.
“The Christmas season offers an opportunity for spiritual reflection and national renewal. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, let us demonstrate kindness and extend goodwill to one another, irrespective of our differences,” Dr. Tunji-Ojo stated.
The Minister also urged citizens to remain committed to promoting harmony, strengthening family bonds, and fostering unity in their communities. He emphasized that peace and collective progress are essential for the development of the nation.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo reassured Nigerians of the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring peace, security, and prosperity across the country. He expressed confidence that the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration would bring economic growth and improvements in the new year.
As Nigerians prepare for the holidays, the government has encouraged citizens to embrace the spirit of the season and continue to work toward unity and goodwill for the nation.
