The Federal Government of Nigeria is set to unveil a major aviation infrastructure—a 15 million-litre aviation fuel depot—on October 17, 2024. This facility, located near the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, will be the largest airside jet fuel depot in the country. The project is aimed at improving the supply and storage of aviation fuel, which has been a recurring challenge for Nigeria’s aviation sector.
The depot, known as the Joint User Hydrant Installation 2 (JUHI-2), will serve as a critical hub for providing jet fuel to key airports, including Murtala Muhammed Airport terminals and nearby airbases. This move is expected to alleviate fuel shortages and stabilize fuel prices, benefiting airlines and enhancing the overall efficiency of aviation operations in Nigeria.
