Japan has committed to supporting Africa through a $421 million concessional loan to the African Development Fund (ADF). This funding will assist African nations in addressing key challenges, including climate change, infrastructure deficits, regional integration, and private sector development.
The loan was formalized during a signing ceremony in October 2024, as part of ongoing efforts to support low-income African countries through grants and concessional loans. This contribution is part of Japan’s long-standing collaboration with the African Development Bank, which includes initiatives to enhance private sector growth, infrastructure development, and regional cooperation.
