The Gombe State Government has approved the sum of ₦2 billion for the implementation of key infrastructure projects across the state, with a focus on solar-powered streetlights and rural development initiatives.
According to the Commissioner for Information, Mijinyawa Garba, the approval was granted during the State Executive Council meeting held on Friday. The move, he said, aligns with Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s commitment to improve security, enhance rural connectivity, and promote sustainable energy solutions across the state.
Garba noted that a substantial portion of the funds would go towards the installation of solar-powered streetlights in major towns and remote communities, as part of efforts to boost night-time security and support small-scale businesses.
The remainder of the funds will be directed toward rural infrastructure development, including road rehabilitation, water access, and electrification in underserved areas.
The initiative is expected to improve the quality of life in rural Gombe, create job opportunities, and accelerate grassroots development in line with the administration’s development blueprint
