
Three sports journalists from SuperSport tragically lost their lives in Anambra State during an ambush by gunmen. The journalists were on their way to Uyo to cover the 2025 AFCON qualifier match when their vehicle was attacked. The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) confirmed that up to six media personnel were kidnapped, and the incident has drawn widespread attention due to the increasing insecurity in the region. Families and colleagues of the victims have expressed deep sorrow over the loss, and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has also issued condolences to the families affected.
