Nigerian beauty queen Chidimma Adetshina, who recently made history as the first runner-up in the 2024 Miss Universe competition, has announced her decision to quit pageantry. She described her experience in the industry as “traumatic” and stated that she wants to focus on personal growth, education, and exploring new career paths in modeling and acting. Adetshina, who also earned the title of Miss Universe Africa and Oceania, said she aims to establish her identity beyond the pageant world and plans to return to Nigeria from South Africa, where she had faced controversies related to her heritage during earlier competitions.
Chidimma explained that despite her success, the pressures and challenges of the pageantry world, including public scrutiny, prompted her decision. She intends to delve deeper into runway modeling and acting, stepping away from pageantry indefinitely to discover her full potential.
