The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize Julius Abure as the legitimate National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP).
This ruling, delivered by Justice Emeka Nwite, reaffirms the outcome of the March 2024 Labour Party national convention held in Nnewi, Anambra State, where Abure was elected. INEC had previously contested Abure’s leadership, arguing that his re-election violated constitutional and electoral guidelines. However, the court overruled INEC’s stance, compelling it to accord full recognition to Abure’s leadership.
