The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially acknowledged receipt and recognition of the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the Supreme Court judgment that removed Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party.
In a statement issued on Saturday, INEC confirmed that the commission is guided by the content of the certified judgment and will comply accordingly in all matters relating to the Labour Party’s leadership and future correspondences.
“The Commission has received and duly recognized the Certified True Copy of the Supreme Court judgment. As a law-abiding institution, INEC will be guided by the court’s pronouncement in its engagements with the Labour Party,” the statement read.
This recognition by INEC marks a significant step in resolving the internal crisis rocking the party, and it is expected to pave the way for the Caretaker Committee, led by Senator Nenadi Usman, to take full administrative charge in accordance with the court’s decision.
