Ifeanyi Ejiofor, lead counsel for the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has called on individuals and groups perpetrating violence under the pretext of agitation in the South-East to embrace peace and cease actions detrimental to the region.
Ejiofor, in a recent statement, criticized those issuing unwarranted declarations and engaging in violent acts, noting that such activities only harm the people and undermine the region’s socio-economic stability.
“I advise those hiding under the guise of agitations and enablers of violence to rethink their actions. The South-East cannot afford to endure further damage caused by baseless declarations and avoidable unrest,” he said.
The IPOB lawyer emphasized the need for constructive dialogue and peaceful means of addressing grievances, urging all stakeholders to prioritize the welfare of the people over personal or political interests.
Ejiofor’s comments come amid ongoing disruptions linked to the Sit-at-Home directive and other security challenges in the region. His appeal aligns with broader efforts by leaders and community groups to restore calm and foster development in the South-East.
