Lagos once again asserted its dominance by beating Oyo in a thrilling final to clinch the maiden South-West Basketball Showdown. The competition, held at Ibadan’s Liberty Stadium Indoor Basketball Hall, featured top teams from the six South-Western states: Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Ekiti, and Osun.
Though Oyo displayed impressive performances throughout the tournament, including strong offensive and defensive plays in the early stages, Lagos ultimately triumphed in the high-stakes final. Organized by the Olumide Oyedeji Youth Foundation, the showdown aimed to promote unity, talent development, and discipline among youths in the region.
With their victory, Lagos not only claimed the prestigious title but also solidified their position as a force to reckon with in regional basketball. This victory will serve as a stepping stone for the upcoming 2025 National Sports Festival basketball qualifiers .
