A 31-year-old man was arrested on Sunday after attempting to hijack a Mexican domestic flight operated by Volaris. The flight, traveling from León, Guanajuato, to Tijuana, was diverted to Guadalajara after the man attacked a flight attendant and tried to storm the cockpit. The suspect reportedly claimed his relative had been kidnapped and that he had received threats, demanding he divert the plane to the U.S.
Authorities apprehended him upon landing in Guadalajara, and the flight later resumed its journey to Tijuana without further incident. This case is being investigated amidst broader concerns about cartel-related violence in the region.
