The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has shut down over 11,000 shops and arrested 40 suspects in a nationwide crackdown on counterfeit drugs.
The operation, aimed at curbing the circulation of substandard and falsified medicines, targeted major drug markets and distribution hubs. According to NAFDAC, the suspects were apprehended for allegedly producing, distributing, or selling fake pharmaceuticals, posing a serious threat to public health.
Officials warn that the fight against counterfeit drugs remains a top priority, as the agency intensifies enforcement measures to safeguard consumers.
