NAFDAC has warned against a Nivea product labelled as providing 48-hour protection in African climates, following a similar alert from the European Union Rapid Alert System for Dangerous Non-Food Products in Brussels.
The product, with batch number 93529610, contains 2-(4-tert-Butylbenzyl) propionaldehyde, a chemical banned in cosmetics due to its potential to harm the reproductive system, impair the health of unborn children, and cause skin irritation and burns. Manufactured in Germany, the product has a Bar Code Number 42299882.
