Nigeria’s national power grid has collapsed yet again, marking the fifth time this year that the country has experienced a nationwide blackout. The collapse occurred within 24 hours of the last incident, which happened around 3 p.m. The blackout has affected various regions, with major distribution companies like the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) confirming disruptions across states such as Enugu, Abia, and Anambra.
This persistent issue has led to widespread frustration, especially since the power grid has collapsed more than 140 times since its privatization in 2013. Despite promises of improvement and technological investments in the power sector, the grid’s reliability remains a significant challenge.
