Nigeria has secured the hosting rights for the 2026 Commonwealth Fencing Championships, marking the first time the country will organize the prestigious event.
The Commonwealth Fencing Federation (CFF) ratified Nigeria’s bid on March 27, 2025, selecting the country over Australia. The Nigeria Fencing Federation (NFF) successfully campaigned for the hosting rights, positioning Nigeria as a rising force in international fencing.
The championship is expected to attract top fencers from across the Commonwealth, providing a platform to showcase Nigeria’s ability to host global sporting events. The NFF has indicated that preparations will be strengthened through participation in upcoming competitions, including the African Senior Championships and the World Championships.
