In yet another grim and heart-wrenching turn of events, Nigeria has witnessed a horrifying wave of bloodshed all within the space of just one day. From the North to the Middle Belt, death and destruction trail behind unchecked insecurity, leaving families shattered and communities devastated.
In Kano, a deadly bomb explosion claimed the lives of at least 5 people, with scores left injured.
In Plateau State, a wedding celebration turned massacre saw 12 innocent guests killed, while 11 others battle life-threatening injuries.
In Kebbi, 30 Nigerians were confirmed dead as bandits rampaged, torching homes and executing civilians at will.
In Borno, a female suicide bomber ended the lives of 24 citizens, adding to the growing toll of terror.
And in Katsina, a police inspector was gunned down, underscoring the vulnerability of even security personnel in today’s Nigeria.
Reacting to the disturbing trend, Peter Obi, expressed grave concern over the nation’s descent into bloodshed, calling out the leadership for its indifference and inaction.
> “The regularity of bloodletting of innocent souls in our country has reduced the news value of human deaths. Even hitherto peaceful areas have turned into killing fields. We must treat insecurity as a national priority and act now. Nigerians deserve to live. A New Nigeria is POssible.” — Peter Obi
Obi emphasized that the continued killings are not just a security crisis but a moral and leadership failure. He lamented the lack of empathy from authorities and warned that the world is watching as Nigeria slowly slips into chaos.
> “An administration that allows this level of insecurity and other vices to thrive is doing a grave disservice to our nation. This is not governance. This is negligence.”
The former Anambra Governor urged all Nigerians irrespective of political affiliation to rise up and demand accountability, empathy, and real solutions.
