
Ahead of the Ondo State governorship election, the Nigerian Police Force has strategically deployed over 34,000 officers to ensure a smooth and secure voting process. The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) made this announcement, emphasizing the importance of a peaceful electoral environment. Officers will be positioned across various polling units, critical infrastructure, and strategic locations to safeguard against any form of electoral malpractice or violence.
This massive deployment includes members from specialized units such as the Explosive Ordinance Disposal, Special Forces, and Anti-Terrorism units. The Police Public Relations Officer highlighted that these operatives will work in tandem with other security agencies to maintain order and prevent any disruptions throughout the election period. The effort aims to reassure citizens of their safety while they exercise their voting rights.
