Nollywood actress Ufuoma McDermott recently shared details of her long struggle with kidney disease, describing the toll it has taken on her physically and emotionally. Initially diagnosed with stage 3 chronic kidney disease, McDermott faced escalating challenges that led to stage 4, often the final stage of kidney failure. She attributes her condition partly to an overuse of painkillers and admitted that, despite her doctor’s advice, she continued her demanding work schedule.
The disease progressed severely last year, a period during which she feared for her life, remaining bedridden and unable to maintain her weight or energy. She has since committed to prioritizing her health, realizing that the impact on her body has changed her outlook on life and work.
