The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and other Northern leaders have expressed dissatisfaction with President Bola Tinubu’s administration, particularly regarding its economic reforms and their perceived negative impact on the Northern region. Key concerns include increased poverty, food insecurity, and inadequate policy measures addressing critical issues such as education, security, and economic development. The ACF criticized Tinubu’s policies for lacking a “human face” and urged a reassessment to prioritize the well-being of ordinary citizens.
The forum also highlighted the North’s unique challenges, such as a high number of out-of-school children, rising unemployment, and insecurity, emphasizing that current government actions have worsened these conditions. While calling for more inclusive governance, Northern leaders have suggested the region may need to reconsider its political alignment in the 2027 elections, hinting at a preference for Northern-focused leadership.
This growing discontent signals potential political shifts and a demand for more targeted policies to address the North’s challenges effectively.
