The Vice Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general elections, Dr. Datti Baba-Ahmed, has dismissed reports suggesting that Mr. Peter Obi has defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a brief statement released on Sunday, Baba-Ahmed clarified that Obi remains a committed member of the Labour Party and has not joined any other political platform.
“Let me be clear: Mr. Peter Obi is still a member of the Labour Party. He has not joined the ADC or any other party. Any claims to the contrary are false and should be disregarded,” he stated.
The clarification comes amid rising speculation about political realignments and coalition-building efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Supporters of the Obidient Movement have also taken to social media to reaffirm their loyalty to the Labour Party and its leadership, calling for unity and focus on the broader goal of building a new Nigeria.
Baba-Ahmed urged the public and party faithful to ignore the distractions and remain committed to the vision and values that brought them together under the Labour Party banner.
