
Muyiwa Adejobi, the Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Officer, recently clarified the stance on criminal responsibility for minors. He emphasized that in Nigeria, children aged 7 and above can be charged in court if they commit a crime, with special conditions in place for juvenile offenders.
While children under seven cannot be held criminally liable, those between 7 and 13 may be charged if they understood their actions’ wrongfulness. The law takes into account their maturity and capacity for discernment.
